Winning of the prize "Massimo Urbani" in 2000; winning, with his quartet, of the first prize to the National Contest of Jazz "Baronissi" 2000 and of the prize of the public to the international contest "Tramplin Jazz D' Avignon" in France, Max Ionata is a young talent that alternates with great ability and experience the tenor and soprano saxes. It begins the studies to the 11 year-old age and since young he has conducted an intense artistic activity.

He has attended the conservatory "L. D'Annunzio" of Pescara, and he has improved the studies of jazz near Columbia College in Chicago under the direction of William (Bill) Russo.

He has studied besides with: Rosario Giuliani, Luca Mannutza, Emanuele Cisi, Robert Bonisolo e Steve Lacy.

He has played in important jazz festivals as: Umbria Jazz, Ancona Jazz, Pescara Jazz, Jazz ‘n Fall, Interamnia Jazz Festival, Leuciana Festival, Sant'Anna Arresi, Arezzo Jazz Winter, Arezzo Jazz Summer, Baronissi Jazz, Atessa in Jazz, Val di Fiemme Sky Jazz, Over Jazz, Le Strade del Jazz, Crossroads, Veneto Jazz, Ferrara in Jazz, Fiorenza Jazz, Acuto Jazz, Atina Jazz, Villa Celimontana Jazz, Fandango Jazz Festival, Archeojazz, Peperoncino Jazz, Beat Onto Jazz, Ronciglione Jazz and he has played in the most prestigious jazz Italian clubs, among which: Alexander Platz, Pinocchio Jazz Club, Biella Jazz Club, Cotton Jazz Club, Fano Jazz'n Club, Jazz Club Ferrara, Cantina Bentivoglio, Blue Note Milano and many others.

He has collaborated with: Mike Stern, Bob Mintzer, Bob Franceschini, Hiram Bullock, Andy Gravish, Miles Griffith, Carlo Atti, Flavio Boltro, Fabrizio Bosso, Giovanni Amato, Maurizio Giammarco and many others.

It develops a' intense concert activity and record, both as leader that with some among the Italian best formations of jazz as: Gianluca Renzi Sextet, Pino Jodice Quintet, Ada Montellanico Sextet.
